Reflection

Listening closely is a way of loving too. When someone feels truly heard, they also feel valued and important. God wants to help you grow in patience and empathy, so you can give the people around you real attention and take better care of their hearts. Valeria was trying to tell her older brother something important. While she talked, she could feel that he was barely paying attention. He answered quickly, kept glancing at his phone, and seemed more interested in ending the conversation than in actually listening to her.

After a few minutes, Valeria stopped talking and went quiet.

Later on, her brother noticed that she seemed different and decided to come back and ask what was going on. This time he put his phone away, sat down beside her, listened calmly, and gave his full attention to everything she had to say.

And so Valeria opened her heart again.

Sometimes we think that loving others always means big gestures. But very often love shows up when we listen patiently and make the other person feel important.

Listening takes time, attention, and empathy.

That is how God listens to us: with attention, with interest, with love. And He can teach us to do the same with the people close to us.
