Reflection
God wants to help you grow a heart that notices what other people need. Helping does not always mean doing something big; most of the time it starts with small acts of love, attention, and compassion. When you decide to care for others, you are also reflecting God's love and kindness. A man was traveling down a road when he was attacked and left wounded at the side of it. Several people passed close by, saw what had happened, and kept walking without stopping. After a while a Samaritan came along. Even though he did not know the wounded man and probably had other things to do, he decided to stop and help him.
He took care of him, bandaged his wounds, and made sure he was safe.
Jesus told this story to teach something important: loving also means looking at what other people need, with compassion.
Sometimes we are so focused on our own problems or our own plans that we stop noticing how the people around us are feeling. God can teach us to look with empathy and to be ready to help.
We do not always have to do something huge to make a difference. Very often small acts of help, company, or generosity can bring someone hope.
Helping does not only change other people's lives. It changes our own heart too.
